Learning Assistant
Learning Assistants provide tutoring in Math 1501, 1502, 2401, and 2403; Chemistry 1310 and 1311; Computer Science 1371; as well as Physics 2211 and 2212.Tutoring takes place Sunday-Wednesday, 8:00-11:00PM in eight first-year residence halls. The Learning Assistance Program is always accepting applications, though the larger recruitment and selection process is held once a semester.

Substitute Learning Assistants have the same duties and requirements as a Learning Assistant, but are not placed on the schedule. They fill in for others when they can not make it to their shift. A substitute Learning Assistant should be able to tutor in at least one or more of the subject aforementioned.

The Learning Assistance Program is currently accepting application for Fall 2009.


Requirements:
  • Cumulative 3.00 GPA.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 6 hours a week (2 shifts). Each shift is three hours (8:00-11:00PM)
  • Received an A or B in the course(s) the Learning Assistant will tutor
  • A letter of recommendation supporting your ability to serve as an academic role model from faculty member
  • Willing to read and/or complete training materials and workshops

Learning Center Coordinator (LCC)
Learning Center Coordinators assist the Academic Coordinator with the supervision of the tutors and Learning Center Management. LCCs should have good communication and leadership skills and be available to work in the evenings.
