Georgia Tech Housing, H1N1 Flu and Residential Community Responsibility

As the suspected cases of H1N1 flu have begun to spread in the residence halls, GT Housing has been busy assisting residents, both ill and well, to get well and stay well.

RELOCATION NOT POSSIBLE
Because the residence halls at Tech are nearly 100% full, we are not able to relocate either ill or well students. We are asking students who can, to go home to rest and recover. If they cannot, they must stay in their room here at Tech. We hope that roommates will be sensitive to each other, and work together to mitigate these situations. If well roommates can sleep in another room for a few days, that would be helpful.

COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES - WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
As members of a residential community, all students and staff have a responsibility to each other. During this flu season, we hope that residents will look out for one another. This means, if you're ill, limit your interaction with others to only the most important periods. If you were given a surgical mask, wear it. If your roommate or floor mate is ill, ask if you can get him or her a "sick tray" from the dining hall. If the sick student has a meal plan, the mangers at Brittain or Woodruff Dining Halls will allow a friend to bring a "to go" container of food and drink. Take that student's BuzzCard to do so. Also, look in on each other. You don't have to expose yourself - send an email or a text message to check in on your peers.

Remember, you may get sick next week and hope others will look out for you!
