North Ave Water Project Update As we continue to fine tune the water project and resultant issues, we thought an update as to what is left to accomplish was important. Your patience with us as we complete this massive project is truly appreciated! We have hot water to all zones in the complex, and the final components of the project are replacing two hydro pneumatic tanks on the East Building and cleaning and repairing Griswold valves that balance water flow into individual apartments.
Installation of Hydro Pneumatic Tanks: Griswold Valves: In each riser that provides domestic water to your apartment, there is a valve that automatically balances flow. Some of these valves are clogged and need to be cleaned or have a flow cartridge replaced. Most of the valves are accessible from common areas (hallways, mechanical rooms, etc.) Other valves are located in the common areas of your apartments (areas with dropped ceilings). During the next four to six weeks, a team of testing engineers will first test each of the valves to ensure that they are functioning properly. A list of valves that need attention will be compiled. After that list is established, a plumbing contractor will need to change out the flow cartridges. If your apartment must be entered, you will receive at least 72 hours notice. Because your security is important, we have a protocol for contractor's starting times, entering apartments and giving notice to residents about room entrance. You can read the Room Entry Protocol . Please note that "Gilbane" is the general contractor for all the projects in NAA this year. Have a great first weekend of Fall semester and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience some of this final work will cause you. Questions: If you have questions, please contact your Hall Director
