Registering a Linksys BEFSR41 or Netgear RP614 with STAR^3T: 0) Plug in router AC adapter to power socket. 0.5) Verify computer is configured for DHCP according to Network instructions on ResNet website. Turn off computer. 1) Reset router by depressing Reset button while plugging in power cable to router. 2) Unplug router's power cable. 3) Connect ethernet cable from WAN port on router to ethernet jack on wall 4) Plug router's power cable in. Verify that the Power light is on. 5) Connect ethernet cable from computer ethernet port to a router port (1-4). 6) Turn on computer. Verify Link/Act light is active for the port the computer is connected to. 7) Once computer is up and running, open a web browser and navigate to http://start.gatech.edu. You should be directed to the START page which will allow you to register your router / computer for the network. 8) Once you have completed the registration, wait 5-10 minutes, and power-cycle the router. Once the router is powered back up, you should have full network access. Notes: It is recommended that you change your default password for the router. You can do this by opening a web-browser and navigating to the following page, depending on your router model: BEFSR41: http://192.168.1.1 (User: admin, Password: admin) RP614: http://192.168.0.1 (User: admin, Password: password) This brings you to the router's Setup page. From here you will be able to change the default password for your router. By default the router will use its own MAC address while connected to the network. Please do not clone the MAC of your computer. This has caused switch ports to stop functioning and downtime for the resident.
