ResNet : Local Area Connection (LAN) Info : Multiple Devices Multiple Devices RESNET only provides one wired connection per resident who is a Georgia Tech student. If you would like to connect multiple devices to the network using wired connection, you will need a router. For more information on recommended routers and their configuration, please go to our Router page. After you have sucessfully set up your router, you should be able to simply plug any other devices into the router and receive a connection. Wireless Internet Phone Additional Info Using a VoIP (Voice Over IP), or Internet-based, phone that uses an IEEE 802.11 wireless base station or broadcasts an 802.11 wireless signal is prohibited on the Georgia Tech campus. Wireless routers are not allowed to broadcast any wireless signal to prevent radio interference with the existing LAWN service, to maximize security of the wired network, and to allow other students to connect to the Internet securely and easily. This policy applies to any radio device that uses the 802.11 standard and allows other devices to connect to it, including VoIP devices. If you wish to use a VoIP phone on campus, such as for international calling, it will need to be a wired unit; in addition, software solutions for the computer are available that can provide international calling at reduced rates. If you still require assistance disabling the wireless radio on your phone or have any questions regarding this matter, please reply to this email or call our office at 404-894-0044 Wireless Printer Additional Info
While we primarily help with network, tv, and telephone problems, we give our best-effort for other issues. Additionally, if your printer has the ability to broadcast a wireless signal, we ask that you disable that functionality per OIT Wireless Policy.
