OMED Challenge PLs
Each summer, Georgia Tech houses OMED Challenge program participants. Challenge is a 5-week,
intensive learning program, which serves approximately 100 residents. The program also
consists of 10-15 live-in counselors. Run by the OMED office; students take core courses
that simulate a typical first fall semester, live in residence halls, and prepare socially
and academically for the transition to college. The counselors are current Tech students
and mentors who provide support and plan events. Thus the CA role for this program is
different than the regular year. The program is open to all students, but is designed to
help minority and first generation college students adjust to life at Georgia Tech.
Hiring preference may be given based on a combination of demonstrated interest in the program, prior participation in the Challenge Program, or previous work experience with Challenge as either OMED counselors or special programs CAs, however, all staff are eligible to apply.
